All Hallows’ Eve at Emmanuel
Every year on the dedicated Trick or Treat Night in Columbus (Thursday, Oct. 29th), Emmanuel sets up a special display that celebrates some aspect of the Lord’s work. This year we will have our candy chutes along Markison Avenue for sharing sweets and the Lord’s Word with passing children. The message will be “For God so loved the world!”
Rather than celebrate a secular Halloween dedicated to fear, Emmanuel celebrates All Hallows’ or All Saints Day, officially Nov. 1st. We remember and give thanks for those who have died in Christ and go before us in the Faith. On the first Sunday in November, we remember those over the previous year who have died and toll the church bell as we offer thanks for their lives and faith.
